happy tails 2024
Rosie (fka Dolly) -
Aww! We love this!! Dolly/Rosie was an unclaimed stray we transported in early February. She is still just as cute as we remember! Good girl, Rosie! We're happy to have played a part in your journey to happiness. Thank you also to Underdog Railway Rescue - Elmhurst, IL for giving Rosie a soft place to land while she was awaited her Gotcha Day.

Jodi - Happy tails to Jodi, a sweet border collie who was transported on June 1 to a rescue partner. Jodi has since been adopted by a family in Connecticut and has a loving furever home! Jodi is seen here on a ferry on Long Island Sound on her journey home. We love our village of supporters who make happy stories like Jodi's possible! |
Micah -
Micah came into animal control with love to give and needing to gain a bit of weight. He was transported on May 17 to a rescue partner. He is a great pup who loves everyone and every dog he meets.
We received an update from amazing rescue partner @The Buddy Foundation today about Micah. Micah hit the jackpot and was adopted by a fantastic young couple who couldn’t resist his charm.
Not only does Micah have a large fenced-in yard to play in, but he also gets to go to work every day with his new dad!
It truly takes a village! A huge thanks to everyone who helped this sweet and loving boy. His new adventure is just beginning. Thank you Buddy Foundation for helping Micah!
Amber -
Amber was aboard our June 8th transport. Once in the arms of our rescue partner, P.A.W.S. Tinley Park, Amber quickly gained the attention of one of their previous adopters, Caroline. Caroline noticed the similarity between Amber and her own dog, Buddy. She later discovered that like Buddy, Amber, was also found in Quincy. This was the update we received shortly thereafter:
"Great news! We ended up adding your recent transport Amber to our family last week! (She will have a new name soon but...TBD!) She is the biggest sweetheart and we are impressed by how she already walks so well on leash, with or without her brother. She is just a big love bug and so smiley! Her and Buddy hit it off instantly, even cuddling on the way home. Their similarities are uncanny and we even ordered DNA tests to see if they are in fact related! They are so similar, down to the distinctive double hackles they each have on their backs when excited. The family of Buddy's sister is also excited to see the DNA results and are thrilled about the adoption! (This also means Buddy's reunion with his sister will now be a triple playdate!) We really think they are related for so many reasons! We are really enjoying having Amber around and also are thankful we had Buddy in training prior to this as it is have been really helpful in navigating the jump from one to two dogs somewhat unexpectedly! We have already discussed with our trainer having one-on-one sessions with them as a pair to set them (and mom/dad) up for success as a new family unit. So thankful we made the quick decision to go and see her when she popped up on our instagram feed! I just new it was meant to be. Here are some photos from this past week!"
We are beyond happy to know what a wonderful home Buddy and Amber have found together. Thank you, Caroline, for the follow-up. Give those two fur-kids a big kiss for all of us at Quincy K-9 Connection.

Lizzy - Back in December, we facilitated the placement of a beautiful GSD named Lizzy with our fabulous rescue partner, Ruby's Rescue. Little Miss Lizzy, as it turns out, had a few buns in the oven. She later gave birth to TEN purebred, GSD puppies. Jean Ann and her dedicated volunteers helped Lizzy care for all 10 puppies who were all eventually adopted into wonderful families. Then, it was Lizzy's turn. We are happy to relay that Lizzy has now found a terrific family of her very own. She has great, shepherd experienced parents, 2 little boys, and 2 amazing senior GSDs to help guide her. She also lives on 33-acres!! Her family reports that she has a GREAT temperament and has settled in well. Job well done Lizzy, job well done. |
Tess - Tess came to our attention as an unclaimed stray back in September of 2023. She was cute as a button and ready to learn. Our rescue partners at Last Stop Rescue agreed to open their arms to Tess who was a passenger on our September 9th transport. Upon arriving at her destination, Tess was placed in a foster home. Over the next few months, Tess' foster family guided her through her anxieties, making her the perfect dog. They worked hard to socialize her, keep her healthy and happy and most of all, shower her with love! In February, Tess found her forever family. Her forever family is huge and has a lot of love to go around. We know Tess will soak in all that love like a sponge. We are honored to have played a role in Tess' story. 💗💗💗 |
Maddie - Good things comes to those who wait. Sweet Maddie was bypassed for FOUR YEARS in her original shelter!! Thankfully, her original shelter recognized how special she is. They described her as an amazing girl who loves with her whole heart . They said she is the happiest dog they had ever met. Unfortunately, she had several factors working against her . . . her breed, her color, her age, a need for special food to keep her skin from flaking, but mostly time. Fortunately, one of our rescue partners said YES when we asked them to step in and assume care for Maddie. She went on her freedom ride with Quincy K-9 Connection on May 4th. On May 14th, we received word from Humane Society of Central Illinois that Maddie had finally found her person. Her wait is over. We're not crying, you are!! We could not be happier that Maddie's wait is over and they were able to play a role in her story. |
Buddy -
We love it when adopters find us and give us a shout! That is exactly what Buddy's new mama, Caroline, did. She found our Facebook page, found Buddy's transport photo, and left us this wonderful update: ʙᴜᴅᴅʏ (ꜰᴏʀᴍᴇʀʟʏ ᴍᴏxɪᴇ #7) ꜱᴀʏꜱ ᴛʜᴀɴᴋ ʏᴏᴜ ꜰᴏʀ ʀᴇꜱᴄᴜɪɴɢ ʜɪᴍ! ʜᴇ ᴊᴜꜱᴛ ᴛᴏᴏᴋ ʜɪꜱ ꜰɪʀꜱᴛ ʀᴏᴀᴅ ᴛʀɪᴘ ᴛᴏ ꜰʟᴏʀɪᴅᴀ ᴀɴᴅ ɪꜱ ʟɪᴠɪɴɢ ᴛʜᴇ ʟɪꜰᴇ! ʜᴇ ɪꜱ ꜱᴜᴄʜ ᴀ ɢᴏᴏꜰʏ ʙᴏʏ ᴀɴᴅ ʙʀɪɴɢꜱ ꜱᴏ ᴍᴜᴄʜ ᴊᴏʏ ᴛᴏ ʜɪꜱ ꜰᴀᴍɪʟʏ. ʜᴇ ɪꜱ ꜱᴜᴘᴇʀ ꜱᴘᴏɪʟᴇᴅ ᴀɴᴅ ʜᴀꜱ ᴍᴏɴᴛʜʟʏ ʙɪʀᴛʜᴅᴀʏ ᴘʜᴏᴛᴏꜱʜᴏᴏᴛꜱ ᴡɪᴛʜ ᴀ ᴛʜᴇᴍᴇ ᴇᴀᴄʜ ᴍᴏɴᴛʜ. ʜɪꜱ ꜱɪꜱᴛᴇʀ ʀᴜʙʏ (ꜰᴏʀᴍᴇʀʟʏ ʀᴏxɪᴇ #6) ɪꜱ ᴀʟꜱᴏ ᴅᴏɪɴɢ ɢʀᴇᴀᴛ ᴀɴᴅ ɪꜱ ɪɴ ᴀ ᴠᴇʀʏ ʟᴏᴠɪɴɢ ʜᴏᴍᴇ ᴅʀɪɴᴋɪɴɢ ᴘᴀᴡᴛɪɴɪꜱ ᴏɴ ʜᴏʟɪᴅᴀʏꜱ ᴀɴᴅ ʟᴏᴠᴇꜱ ᴡᴀᴛᴄʜɪɴɢ ᴛᴠ ᴀɴᴅ ᴄᴀʀʀʏɪɴɢ ʜᴇʀ ꜱᴛᴜꜰꜰɪᴇꜱ ᴀʀᴏᴜɴᴅ ᴛʜᴇ ʜᴏᴜꜱᴇ. ᴡᴇ ᴘʟᴀɴ ᴛᴏ ʀᴇᴜɴɪᴛᴇ ᴛʜᴇᴍ ꜱᴏᴏɴ We did a post with Ruby’s update late last year and were thrilled to see that her brother shared the same wonderful outcome. Larissa - This beautiful Aussie mix was one of 6 girl pups that were transported to PAWS Tinley just after Thanksgiving. Her name was Larissa. She was fostered by this family following the fire that temporarily closed PAWS in January. We are thrilled to report that little Larissa has wormed her way into to her foster family's hearts, and they have officially adopted her. MJ, one of our awesome volunteers, knows the family personally & tells us that Larissa has hit the doggie lotto. She is so lucky & could not have found a more loving home. ❤️ Way to go Larissa!! 4 paws up, Girl 🐾🐾 |
Ella - Ella, an eight year old stray, found herself in a low-adoption municipal shelter. Thanks to the efforts of our rescue partner @Chicagoland Lab Rescue, Ella is now with her forever family! Thank you Chicagoland Lab Rescue for saying YES and taking in Ella! |
